During the lead up to the #climb4nmmu the Vice-Chancellor is participating in exciting on-campus fitness challenges together with corporate friends, supporters, staff and students.

Corporate/Stair Challenge

The VC has been preparing for the #climb4nmmu by regularly racing up the 18 flights of stairs to his office at the Main Building.  He has invited members of the corporate community to join him in a time trial challenge at 2pm on Tuesday the 21st of July 2015.
 
Taking up the challenge will be:

FEDICS: Jennifer Schoultz
SANLAM: Tony Ndongeni
STANDARD BANK: Vick Strydom
BIDVEST PROTEA COIN: Tony Marko 

Participants will meet at the bottom of the stairs to begin the ‘race’ to the top of the building.  The event is sure to attract a lot of interest as participants and the VC race to see who can make the fastest time to the summit of the building where they will be joined by media and supporters.

Meet with Bursary Legacy recipients, Siviwe and Sakhumzi 

The Vice Chancellor will host our current two successful Bursary Legacy recipients, Siviwe Mbele and Sakhumzi Dukwe for a Tea where Prof Swartz, who was once a bursary recipient himself, will share personal words of encouragement and insight into his journey to a tertiary education.

Rowing Challenge and Student Q&A

The VC will take on a 500m rowing challenge at the Fitness & Aquatics Centre on South Campus at 12pm on Tuesday the 28th of July. There will be free refreshments for all those who sign up for the challenge and medals for those placed first to third to commemorate the occasion and other great prizes to be won.  Prof Swartz will also give students the opportunity to ask him questions about his fundraising student campaign.
